I'M HYRUM DENNEY
User Experience & Product Leader
COMPUTER SCIENCE GUY WITH PRODUCT PASSION
I started my technical career as a software engineer and my education was focused in computer science and human and computer interaction. Leading teams of developers and designers early on helped me realize how passionate I was about designing elegant user experiences. The next steps in my career involved UX design with a bit of front-end development. I then moved into more senior UX and product management roles. I now lead product and user experience at GoReact as the Director or Product Management.
Throughout my career, I’ve designed and shipped a number of highly complex web applications as well as apps for mobile, smarts TVs and consoles. I've found significant success in simplifying complex software interfaces, restructuring information architecture and applying behavioral psychology to product design. Most recently, I've been creating a suite of tools for objectively ranking and prioritizing all the upcoming product development work for the roadmap. This has saved countless hours and aligned the entire company around the most important tasks and projects.

UX SHELF BLOG
I started the UX Shelf blog to have a place to share thoughts and perspectives from my personal experiences, industry best practices and from things I'm listening to and reading. The blog touches on the following topics: agile, user experience, product management, and behavioral psychology.
I wrote an article for Smashing Magazine based on results from a usability study I conducted related to website navigation patterns. Not long after the article was published, the editor asked if they could include my writings in one of the Smashing ebooks.
